Responsibilities
Work closely with the production, maintenance, and quality assurance teams to coordinate cleaning schedules and minimize production downtime.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting of safety hazards.
Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the safe handling of chemicals, per Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and company guidelines.
Lead team of Sanitation Coaches staffed on each production shift
Facilitate effective training for required employees and coordinate with our chemical supplier for training and efficacy assistance as needed.
Ensure that line, equipment and tool cleanings in support of production schedule are conducted efficiently and effectively to expedite process interruptions and facilitate schedule attainment.
Ensure facility sanitation plans are sustainably delegated for realistic completion as scheduled and effectively executed to maintain a food safe environment.
Partner with shift supervisors to assist with resource allocation and creative solutions to achieve required sanitation results.
In conjunction with duties as site chemical usage SME, ensure compliance with Michigan Environmental, Great Lakes & Energy (EGLE) waste / storm water protocols.
Maintain accurate records of cleaning and sanitation activities, including cleaning schedules, chemical usage logs, and sanitation checklists.
Establish and share Key Performance Indicators for the efficiency and efficacy of cleaning efforts
Compliance: Ensure all sanitation activities comply with company policies, food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA), and industry standards (e.g., HACCP, GMPs, EGLE).
Other duties as may be assigned in support of cross functional continuous improvement

Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training or certification in sanitation, food safety, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a sanitation role within a food manufacturing environment.
Knowledge: Understanding of food safety regulations, GMPs, HACCP, and sanitation best practices. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures.
Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in a wet environment, wearing appropriate protective equipment and lift up to 50lbs. Must be able to work various shifts, including nights and weekends as needed.
Certifications: Certification in food safety or sanitation (e.g., ServSafe, HACCP, PCQI, EGLE) is a plus.
